Dennison Community Support Fund a.k.a DCSF
Dear Dennison Community:
Thank you! As always, your generosity is inspiring.
So far this year you have donated about $54,375 to DCSF, which is being used to improve your children’s education.
Barnes & Noble night last November raised $2,225
Apex Family Night in April raised almost $21,000
Your King Soopers card purchases so far have raised $12,650
Your outright donations so far total $18,500
Your money has been doing much good at Dennison this year. Among other things, your donations purchased:
Six additional hours of educational assistant time per day ($14,000)
Student remote controls for the Smartboards ($10,800)
Thinking Maps software ($3,775)
Keyboarding software ($1,000)
Every Child a Writer resources ($3,395)
Daily geography books for grades 3 through 5 ($362)
Pearson Education reading resources ($524)
Document cameras for all third grade classes ($2,800)
Wow! If you walk through a typical Dennison classroom you will see the following items, none of which would be there if not for your generosity and the generosity of those before you: new math, science, language arts and geography text books; teacher sound systems; Smartboards and remotes; new computers; learning resources and software; and many other things.
It now appears that there will be large budget cuts next year. We would like to be in a position to reduce the impact of those budget cuts on Dennison by supplementing Dennison’s discretionary budget and by providing funds for educational assistants whose hours will likely be reduced by the budget cuts and whose role will be even more critical should the number of teachers be reduced.
We would like to finish the school year by increasing the amount raised from the current $54,375 to $65,000. This will allow us to commit $30,000 to the school for use next year for additional educational assistants and to supplement the school’s budget. It is important that the school be able to count on these funds before the beginning of next school year in order to make the appropriate personnel and other budgeting decisions.
You can help us raise the additional money by continuing to use and reload your King Soopers cards (remember we get 5% of what you spend on groceries at King Soopers and gasoline at King Soopers and Loaf & Jug), and by making a donation if you haven’t already done so this year. We’ve attached a donation form and envelope for your convenience. You can also find the donation form here:Contribution Form2011.pdf We’ve added a donation button on the website if you would like to make a donation by credit card.
We can’t thank you enough for your generosity and support this year (as always). You are the reason Dennison is the Blue Ribbon School it is. Let’s finish the year with a bang.
